This is my personal blog. Welcome! I don't tend to write much, but I want to start building the habit. Things that interest me currently are 3D printing, prop building, making things, painting things and general hackery.

If you want to just rant at me, please remember the words of the Buddha about Anger:

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”

About me

I come from the UK and have a background in Electronics. While at university I was exposed to programming and linux, which is what I started doing professionally. I was a Unix system admin for around 15 years before making a transition in to security. I still like to keep my skills current, which is partly why I started this blog. I do still work on unix from time to time, but mostly on the design side. I have now been a security architect for a telecoms company in the UK since 2021.

This basis gave me my love of programming, automation and partially, 3D printing. I do love making stuff and 3D printers are partly machines with a bit of programming and electronics within them.

I have also jumped from hobby to hobby and technology to technology the majority of my adult life. Part of what I am trying to do here is record where I'm up to with various things, so I can come back to them later. Hopfully they will be of some use to people in the meantime.
